New Iris of the Day – May 14, 2014

This little delicate white and blue iris opened up this morning.  I shot this iris with two different cameras.  This first photo, I used Chris’s Sony DSC-HX50V Point and Shoot camera.

This second photo I used my Nikon 1 V2 Mirrorless camera with my Nikkor 18.5mm f1.8 fixed lens (equal to 50mm in 35mm format). 051314 iris of the day (3)

    • I agree, Rusha. I’d love to see a shot of the garden, too, Cee. I can see why you’re drawn the the violet colors (from your other posts), but this indigo, white and yellow combo has a gently regal quality. I think the perspective and clarity of the second shot tells more about the flower, but the dark background on the first image is really striking. Keep ’em coming!

  1. The detail on these is just draw dropping. The intricate designs and colors and the clarity. Oh, Cee, magnificent job!!! Thank you!!! xx

  2. I think this iris is my favorite so far. They are all beautiful though. I’m thinking I need a variety of them in my yard!

  3. I can never get enough of Ms. Iris myself. Every spring, I see them first in the Valley, about an hour’s drive away. Then, a few weeks later, they bloom up here in the mountains. I had gorgeous purple irises decorating my wedding cake. They are so sensuous, they always remind me of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings…

  4. The way the yellow blends with the blue, I agree with pretty much everyone else that this one is the most impressive so far.
