The Anywhere Door

052114 anywhere door (1)Today’s Daily Prompt is Pick Your GadgetYour local electronics store has just started selling time machines, anywhere doors, and invisibility helmets. You can only afford one. Which of these do you buy, and why?

I choose the anywhere door.  What a cool way to travel somewhere for a couple of hours and come back.  I still get tired when I travel or walk around too much.  Traveling one place for a couple of hours would be so cool and that way I could come back and chill and relax at home and in comfort.

There are a lot of big cities in this world I would never dream of visiting because I’m not a city person.  But to pop in just for one specific thing would be ideal like to see the Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera House, Leaning Tower of Pisa.  I could check the weather before entering the door and dress appropriately or find another destination.

I couldn’t imagine anything better as a photographer.  I could see Niagara Falls and go see the Great Pyramids all in the same day.  I start to get bored and tired after a couple of hours in any one place.  So I could easily handle two doors a day.  Take a day or two off and process my photos and start all over again.

My first destiny would be to see Alaska.  Alaska has volcanos, glaciers, whale watching, lakes, streams, forests, mountains.

The world at my door step would be fascinating and marvelous.  The little townships around the world.  Spend some times with native people and get to know their lifestyles and habits.  Yeah, that would be my idea of fun.

  1. It would be a photographers best friend. But you could use the time machine too … just travel a few minutes ago to wherever you want to shoot … kind of a two for one 🙂

  2. I’m with you on the anywhere door. I’ve seen too many sci-fi movies to go messing around with time machines and as an aging female, I already have enough issues with invisibility … but to travel at whim and still sleep in your own bed at night if you chose!!!! ahhh – perfection 🙂

  3. What a perfect opportunity it would be to enjoy all of your photography from these wonderful places. I would so love to see the rest of the world through your lens.

  4. Useful when you go food shopping methinks. Bag your groceries on one side and pop them through one by one to the other 🙂

  5. A marvelous idea. Even “Beam me up, Scotty,” wouldn’t be necessary. I hate waiting for someone of something. Go when you’re ready and return the same same. Yep, that everywhere door sounds mighty interesting, and the pictures…lots and lots to share with US. 😀
