This is a columbine flower and it is also the Colorado State flower. It comes in a variety of different colors.

They seem to come in every colour, but I like the simple ones best of all.

One of my favourites! The name Columbine comes from the Latin name for “dove”. Lovely shot!

The columbines are out in full force here in Colorado…. depending on one’s elevation. Lovely capture 🙂

Only the blue columbine is the Colorado state flower and they grow wild in the mountains (along with icelandic poppies).

You know I lived in Colorado for 25 years and didn’t know it was just the blue columbines. Although it sure makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the information.

I honestly didn’t know there were other colors until I moved to Nebraska as a kid and saw them everywhere in yellow and red. They are one of my favorite flowers. I’ve really enjoyed your irises — that’s my VERY favorite flower!

Irises my favorite to photograph. I still think dahlias are my all time favorite flowers though. Thanks for commenting.
