I had a marvelous response from all of you on last week’s theme of Wood or Season of Spring. Thanks everyone you always amaze and delight me. I’m proud to announce our featured bloggers this week. Their posts really grabbed my attention. Please check out their posts and congratulate them. Maybe you will be chosen next week.
Featured Bloggers
Simply Beautiful – Quintessential spring and wood combined in one stunning photo..
Reflections and Nightmares – Irene A Waters – Irene has a wide range of photos and my favorite is the tree roots growing down the building or wall.
PaintedWords – Such fun spring photos … even got some eyes.
My Guilty Pleasures – Wonderful assortment of Spring photography. Have to appreciate the tulips photograph.
Mukhamani – Wouldn’t this dwarf variety of the Areca nut palm tree be cool in your garden. For me it’s very unusual.
Marsha Lee – Her photos covers some of the areas I just adore. Good variety of wood. Love the tunnel through a redwood tree.
Living With My Ancestors – I just love the Basswood art piece photograph. The pier walk is pretty cool too.
Taking a Deep Breath – I just adore these two shots. For some reasons I really like the second one with the arched trees.
This week’s Topics: Fire / Summer
We are now into our Five Elements/Seasons series and today our topic is Fire or the Season of Summer. In the description of of the Fire Element you can maybe get some ideas for your entry.
People with strong Fire energy may be quite charismatic. They excel at commanding others to action. They may love talking and socializing. Color for fire is red.
This series in particular, look through your archives of photos since we are covering all the seasons of the year. I hope even those of you who don’t have the typical seasons because you live near the equator I hope you want to use the color or element for your posts. Have fun and be as creative as you like.
Current Series: Five Elements/Seasons
Wood / Spring
- Fire / Summer
- Earth / Harvest – Someone with well developed Earth energy is a well grounded, nurturing, compassionate person, sometimes depicted as the archtypical “earth mother”. Earth people like to bring others together and make good mediators or peacemakers and reliable friends. They often enjoy both preparing food and eating. The color for earth is yellow.
- Metal / Fall – A person with well balanced Metal energy is well organized, self disciplined, and conscientious. They like structure in their life. They are most comfortable in situations when they know the rules and can succeed by following them. Metal Qi bestows a deep inner strength, like ore mined from the mountains. The color for Metal is white.
- Water / Winter – The Water energy is a strong generative force centered in the lower belly. When the Kidney Qi is strong, a person is fearless, determined, and can endure many hardships in pursuit of their goals. Persevering by will power is characteristic of those with strong Kidney Qi. The color for water is blue.
The Next Series – Just Some Stuff
- Black and White Photos – to kick off the return of my B&W Challenge
- Roads: country, freeways, streets – to kick off the return of my Which Way Challenge
- Wheels: transportation, water wheels, spinning wheels
- Contrasting Colors: Purple/pink, yellow – orange and blue – red and green
- Buildings: houses, barns, commercial
How It Works?
Most weeks I will come up with a topic. Feel free to write me with things you want to learn about.
Go through you photo archives and see what photos you have that fits the current week’s challenge, or better yet grab you camera and take a new photo!

Red represents summer and so do dahlias.

Fiery sky in Canby, Oregon.

Road work is all about summer in most areas.

The unusual thing about your Men At Work picture is that both guys are working. Usually there are five guys. Four are drinking coffee and chatting (maybe one is actually sleeping) and only one is working. Or maybe that’s just Massachusetts.

I got lucky with this photo….actually here in the country they aren’t bad, but in Portland you always see people standing around. 🙂
