My New Camera – Sony a7ii & First Photos

I just got my camera a few hours ago, and here I am posting just a couple of fun photos.

Here is a shot of my new camera and my two new lenses.  My camera is a full frame mirrorless Sony a7ii and it weighs only 1.2 lbs.  My lenses are 18-200mm (tall one of the left) and mounted on my camera I have my 30mm macro lens.

Obviously I have not played around with it that much yet, but here are a couple of photos.  These first two are from the macro lens.  One is of my the Sony’s lens cap (on the bottom) and the other is of the option key on my keyboard.  I have a colored plastic cover over my keyboard.

These next two photos I took with my 18-200 lens.  This camera promises to show a steady shot. In this first photo, the girl was starting to turn and notice her foot is perfectly clear.  I was impressed.

Upon first examination, I think I’m going to enjoy my new camera.  🙂

  1. I don’t know enough to be envious, but I still want one…but I want any camera at this point. All I have so far is my smartphone. 🙂 Enjoy your present, Cee! You deserve it! 🙂

  2. I’m thinking of getting a mirrorless myself… figured it would be easier to take around on my travels. Looking forward to more shots from your new cam and also your take on it. Merry Christmas, Cee!

  3. Very nice setup Cee. Your flower photography will certainly benefit from your lens choices. I’m assuming both are full frame lenses, giving you a good range of focal lengths. I look forward to seeing you put them through their paces. Over the years my eyes have been opened to the fact that Sony, Fuji & Olympus have caught and surpassed what Nikon have to offer.

After Christmas I intend to use My Nexus 7 tablet to capture a shot of my two Fuji X-E1 cameras sitting side by side. For the time being I have my 18-55mm and 55-200mm zooms on the two camera bodies to give me a wide coverage covering any photographic situation. I also have 18mm, 35mm & 60mm macro fixed focal length fast glass in the bag. I can go small with the pancake 18mm or long with the big zoom. I have a 2nd Black Rapid SnapR 35 bag/strap in the mail.

Have fun with your new gear. I know in your capable hands that it will open new doors and lift your skill set even higher. Merry Christmas, just 25 minutes away. 🙂

  4. Oh, I’m so envious!
And that red plastic cover makes me feel: want want want!
And that one will more likely agree with my bank account…
Have a nice holiday, both of you! ⛄️🎅🎄🎁🎉

    • That is cheap….it was only $10-$15 on amazon and I got a computer cover and stuff like that with it. I do like my keyboard cover, I didn’t think I would be I sure do.

    • I know…the hard part it I will need a full year of using it to have most my posts be taken with this camera. Guess I’ll just have to shoot a lot of photos this year….Tough life but someone has to do it 🙂

  7. Hi there!
I’m hoping you can help me with something. I recently upgraded to the a7ii from my NEX 6 which I loved! I love the a7ii the way it feels everything. But I am having a hard time getting good quality once transferred onto my phone or tablet. Have you experienced this?

    • Nope I have not had any trouble with that. Are you holding your camera right? Cradle the lens with your left palm so the camera stays steady. You might be having a small holding your camera steady issue. Are you using the auto function so it automatically focuses for you? Is it just focused in one small area, when you want your entire photo to be focused. It could be a bunch of stuff. If you want contact me through my contact page and we can email back and forth.
