It is time for Robyn’s One Four Challenge for March Week 1.
For this series I picked a photo I took of a dahlia. I thought I would see what I could do with a macro flower. I usually keep them pretty close to my original photo because I like to keep my florals as close to natural as I can. So it will be interesting to see what I come up with for this dahlia. My the original photo is shown on the right.

Week 1 Version
Here are a couple of the basic steps I took.
- Altered the correction for my lens.
- Cropped this photo slightly.
- Enhanced the contrast.
- Enhanced the vibrancy a little bit.
- Added a little clarity.
Qi (energy) hugs,
Cee
And that’s where I usually quit 🙂 Gorgeous!

We we see what I can come up with. It will be a hard one to do black and white with since the colors are so close….unless of course I do something fun with the actual colors of the petals. 🙂

Just that crop you did makes the flower pop even more. I like subtle adjustments that you did. It really makes the flower look like I could smell it on the screen 🙂 By the way, this is probably a stupid question, but how do you do the lens correction?
LikeLike
It is part of Bridge (Adobe Photoshop). I can just make a few clicks and it knows what lens I use and makes standard adjustments.

I think I have that too. I think I can do it LR too…maybe.

Oh it’s gorgeous Cee – such a beautiful flower. The colours are wonderful too!
I like what you’ve done here and will look forward to seeing what’s next.
If you did go B&W you could add a filter (red, green etc) to see what happens? Food for thought 😀

I’m with you on keeping floral images as close to natural as possible. Ironically this month I also picked a flower – an Orchid in my case – as my subject. Should be fun to stray from the norm, for us both. 😉
Your edit is beautiful. I like how you enhanced the colors here, it’s so much brighter. Also in the original the center petals almost look separate, or disconnected if you will, from the outer petals. But in your edit you’ve brought them back together.
I look forward to seeing how you edit this further.

Fabulous flower 🙂 Dahlia’s a so versatile and I love this first edit but I’m very excited to see what you do with it! I had so much fun with a dahlia in the challenge a few months ago.
