This is the last week of my Just Some Fun Topics challenge series.
This week’s topic is Weathered Wood. Any kind of weathered wood which can come from on old building that lost it’s paint, driftwood, sculptures. You be shown a variety of different photos that fit this category.
Feel free to dig around in your archives for photos if you don’t have anything knew you can photograph. Most of all I hope you have fun. This is definitely one where you can add photos of your favorite things.
I had a marvelous response from all of you on last week’s theme of Abstract Photography. Thanks everyone you always amaze and delight me. I’m proud to announce our featured bloggers from last week’s topic. Their posts really grabbed my attention. Please check out their posts and congratulate them. Maybe you will be chosen next week.

That is actually an old water tower…most likely used for steam train engines.

Great topic: nice to see all those textures. I like the wheel myself – your photo invites us to peer through to see what is beyond.

Love the shot of the bridge, Cee. Makes me want to head out for a walk! My contribution this week comes from not too far from Oregon:

Cee, as always you provide us with fantastic images. My pick for this week must be the wheel and the old house, normally I’m not a sepia person, but I really like it. Here is my entry – http://wp.me/p293Pw-aMP – will disappear for a couple of weeks now … but I will be back, it’s a threat. Take good care of yourself until then.

I take threats seriously. Hope your two weeks away are for fun.

Weathered wood! You must be surrounded by it, Cee, living where you do. Even the rafters in my house are made of ‘oregon’ and we are so far away. No oregon or hardwood used in houses here anymore; it’s all pine. I worry for the future of these houses.
I’m not sure if I have any photos, and as it is 6:30 AM and I about to ‘get behind the mule’, this challenge may have to wait until later.
Thank you so much for featuring my abstract photos. It is indeed an honour.

Great weathered photos. I don’t think I have ever seen a wooden (?water) tank before. Is it for water or for grain? It looks like it fills either railway carts or trucks. Otherwise it has to be a giant teapot.
LikeLike
It is a water tank for old steam trains…..so you are right on. 🙂

Thanks. They must put tar or something on the inside to make it hold water. Our old tanks are corrugated iron.

I was going to call it a giant watering can–but I see it is an old water tower. So pretty!

What is it about weathered wood that pulls us in? Clearly I’m not the only one. I have so many photos that relate to this topic I could probably do 365 days of weathered wood, but would that be too much? I pared my choices down to one specific trip my family took a few years ago. I hope you love them as much as I love yours! https://lunanista.wordpress.com/2015/03/26/cees-fun-foto-challenge-weathered-wood/

That was the one that sparked my impulse to respond to the challenge. I make mixed media art and this is a photo I have used and will use again I’m sure. I love making flower photos into mandalas and kaleidoscopes and this is a great one for that.
