Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Churches or Any Religious Building

040715church_1This is the second week of a new challenge series that I call the “The Letter C”.  I hope you like the topics I have pick out for this series.

This week’s topic is Churches or any religious building.  Here is a list of religious buildings I found from wikipedia.

  • Church including Basilica, Cathedral, Duomo, Chapel, Oratory, Martyrium
  • Mosque including, Mihrab, Surau
  • Imambargah
  • Monastery
  • Mithraeum
  • Fire temple
  • Pyramid
  • Shrine
  • Synagogue
  • Temple
  • Pagoda
  • Gurdwara
  • Hindu temples

Your photo can be of the entire building, a window, a door or even anything inside.  So there is a lot of flexibility within this topic.

Feel free to dig around in your archives for photos if you don’t have anything knew you can photograph.   Most of all I hope you have fun.  This is definitely one where you can add photos of your favorite things.

I had a marvelous response from all of you on last week’s theme of Colorful Monotones (no sepia or black and white) Photography.  Thanks everyone you always amaze and delight me.  I’m proud to announce our featured bloggers from last week’s topic. Their posts really grabbed my attention. Please check out their posts and congratulate them. Maybe you will be chosen next week.

  3. Cee, Your church looks exactly like the Methodist Church I went to as I was growing up. I’m submitting a second set of pictures of the church in my home municipality of Jocotepec, all taken this morning when I went to pay property taxes and learned that the government offices are all closed until next Monday..I guess they took off two weeks for Easter, a big holiday here. This church is a bit less grand than the San Miguel Cathedral, but I love its stone artistry. I may do a third post of the inside of our church in San Juan Cosala, which is my favorite interior. Also, of the hospitalito, the ruins of the very first church, constructed under the supervision of the Spanish priests. Most pueblos have an old church, built on the ruins of the destroyed temples and often making use of the stones from the temples, and then a newer church, constructed within the last couple of hundred years.

    • I bet there is lots of history from the Spanish priests. I know I adored all the missions in Southern California. Your church is fabulous.

  6. Love that stained glass window, and the Abernathy Chapel projects so much serenity, I could sit and stare at it for a long long time. No entry for me today, since I just did two posts that slide right into this category.
