Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge (Day Five): Ocean’s Fury

Thanks to Helen over at HHC Blog asked me to join along in the fun of the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge.  If you don’t know her you should check out her blog.

The rules of Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo (It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph) and then nominate another blogger to carry on this challenge. Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command.

Today I actually have two people who I would like to invite to play along in this challenge.

  1. Judy over at Life lessons –– a blog by Judy Dykstra-Brown.  I have known Judy for quite a while.  She is one of the nicest people you could ever meet.  She is a writer and photographer.  If you don’t know of her blog, you should take a look at it.  She is traveling back to the US after a winter’s stay in Mexico so she might not start for a couple of days.  Please be on the lookout for her posts.
  2. A Bit of This and A Lot of That is the other blogger I want to asked to join along in the fun is someone I have known for awhile who participates in some of my challenges.  Please check out this blog to.

Here is my photo for today.

I so much adore listening and watching the waves of the Pacific Ocean in Newport, Oregon.  This photo was taken on a beautiful crisp clear February morning.  It is located at Yaquina Head Lighthouse State Park.  I walked down the long outdoor steps to get to the shore.  The waters were perfect to capture waves crashing against the rocks.

In this photo, looking down the beach you can see the fog along the coast even though I was in perfect sunlight.  Notice all the lava rocks on the beach.  While I was taking these photos along the beach you can see what Chris was capturing up on a little hill that overlooks the Yaquina Heal Lighthouse.

  1. Hi Cee. Is there any other place I should be posting these Five Photo/Five Stories Challenge posts other than here? Is there a specific site to post them on?

      • My friend Sharon, who was driving, said I was the only person in the world who ever let her take as long as she wished or backtracked to let her capture a shot, so she was glad to go a half mile out of her way to circle back for these shots. I also had to stand a bit in traffic to capture them. Anything to click the pic!!!

  4. Some sized waves rolling in there Cee ! Lovely moment you’ve caught with that wave … I can why you tackled the long steps down to watch and listen .

    • It was a ways down. It took me forever to make the climb back up, but I could always turn and take a few pictures so it didn’t look like I was desperately fighting for air. I went down before I could breathe as well as I do now. 🙂

  5. Love the mist off the water and the foam crashing waves. I have spend many an hour on a slipper rock waiting for the perfect breaker. The only thing that stops me these days is being so far from the ocean. I have rivers and streams and ponds … and some very nice birds 🙂 But no lighthouses or waves breaking on the shore.
