Chris and I went to a local park this afternoon and practiced a little qigong and took a few photos. This park has about 10-15 acres of rhododendrons and azaleas under a canopy of big evergreen trees that keep you in the shade on a warm sunny day. A wonderful place to just sit and relax or take a stroll through the park.

This is what the rhododendron from above will look like. Buds usually appear darker than the actual bloom.

Azaleas don’t thrill me, but this orange rhody is spectacular – thank you, Cee!

Cee, that orange bud photo is great! It seems you have some unusual color Rhodies at that park. I even like the white with the yellow in the center…I’ve never seen one like that either.

They have so many varieties it is fun to see them. They all bloom slightly different times too.

The orange one takes first place because it’s fuller and has more ‘ruffles’. The white is lovely but doesn’t present as well as even the pink one..Still, these are all stunning, especially the orange azelea. ❤ ❤ ❤

The orange gets my vote….Although I like the others too for different reasons. 🙂

Yes, I do too, but the orange one wins top marks. 🙂

Gorgeous!! I remember going to the Azalea Festival in Brookings, OR. Remember going super early as “uncle” was one of the workers. Gorgeous flowers.

You don’t see orange rhodies around here. Stunning!

I don’t see that many either, but every once in awhile I get lucky. Thanks.

I planted some in my yard, even thought they were not supposed to be able to live in my zone. They are still alive, despite two bitter winters, but they don’t bloom.

Do they stay evergreen for you….or do they turn the icky gray?

Rhodies stay green, but their leaves curl and droop after the first real frost. They look cold. Then the leaves smooth and rise when spring comes.
