Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Patterns

111215b&W_3This week’s Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge (CB&W) topic is Patterns.  I wan to see all sorts of patterns, on building, clothes, nature, the list is endless.   Your patterns can either be a unique looking piece or a pattern created by something be repeated.  It’s another week you can be creative and have some fun.

For a list of upcoming topics, please see the list at below.  Be creative and challenge yourself.  Look for contrast or highly textured subjects to shoot.

This challenge accepts the following types of photography:

  • Black and white photography
  • Sepia tones (browns)
  • Selective color with the majority of the photo being in black and white

Hopefully you will have a lot of fun with this challenge and find your creative eye will be expanded.  Here are a couple tips and tricks posts I have done specifically for black and white photography.

    The reason why I’m not doing the photo challenges is photos eat up of lot of space and media library is becoming very heavy. Recently a blogger friend told me that she doesn’t upload pictures in media library and directly put it in the post. she works on HTML. I don’t think there is any way you can avoid media library as the photo will automatically add there. Please help me in removing my doubts.

    • Another thing you can do is save them by pixel size. I usually save them 900 pixels. That makes them a nice size for computer viewing and would only print clearly at maybe 3×5. So it protects you to ways. Saves a ton of memory and no one can use your photo so you don’t need to watermark them. This usually save as 200-400 kg. I have used less than 10% of my memory on WP in two years of blogging.

  46. This was a very interesting challenge, forcing me to decide what I mean by “pattern” … Where does photography end and some other digital art form begin? All your pictures are great, but the water lily jumps right off the page. Your use of spot color takes this one to a new level.

  68. I would have never guessed that was a lily pad. Nature is so amazing! I love the way you allowed the color of the pillow and the center of the flower through. The effect is stunning!
