Here is a little background on the BTG Olympus. She is a bulk carrier and currently sailing under the flag of Bahamas and has a has 229m length overall and beam of 32m. Her gross tonnage is 43500 tons.
I thought was just so very beautiful. It’s blue and white colors matched the perfect weather we were having. I adored it lines. I hope you enjoy enjoy it as much as I did.
Here is the BTG Olympus starting to enter the Columbia River from the Pacific Ocean. This must be 6-7 miles from where my hotel was.
She is now nearly in front of the hotel.
Now in front of the hotel, I could see her beautiful anchors and shadows at the bow of the ship.
There was a huge No Smoking sign painted on her. From what little information I could find, she was carrying some kind of gas.
A little further down the river in Astoria, she stopped and anchored. The small boat you see parked beside her on the left is where they change Captains. Only a handful of Captains are authorized to bring the big cargo ships into Portland’s harbors.Qi (energy) hugs

Wonderful choices all. I’m trying to imagine what would happen if someone decided to ignore the BIG no smoking sign and sneak a smoke. Kaboom? Ouch. High price for a cigarette!

LOL!!! I think it would take more than one cigarette on top of the storage area, but I like it is a non-smoking vessel.

Only certain people are allowed to captain ships in Port Phillip Bay too. Here we call them pilots.

I think that is what they call them too. 😀
