When I started thinking about the price comparisons….I decided to go with both cameras. Of course I’m playing more with my new Nikon, but they are both great cameras and each have their own uses.
The Rebels are great cameras. A year ago I upgraded to the Sony. It has everything but a long zoom. The only lens made for it because it is so new around 200 mm. I wanted at least a 300 mm. I could have gotten a lens converter pack for around $400 plus $1,500 for the lens. So when I say this Nikon (and my original good camera was a Nikon D80) with a 2000mm zoom, I thought I would get it. There are a couple draw backs because it is strictly a point and shoot, but ….. for $600. It well worth it. I like both cameras a lot.
I have studied photography since 1972 when my first child was born and I got the Time Life series. Each new book was a blessing and a wonder on how to understand the basics and use the camera properly to get the best results. Graduating from Kodacolor film to digital with the first release of the Canon EOS was a giant leap in expanding my work. I was no longer limited to prints and I could store everything on my PC. Going from 4 to 12 megapixel is the only upgrade since.

The Nikon is a little over my budget, but it sure does a beautiful job.
