I decided to play along with Lori’s 26 Weeks Letter Challenge and this week the topic if Letter N. I only have one photo for the letter N this week. It is a Osprey in its nest. Chris and I went out on a photo shoot yesterday, and we were delighted to find this Osprey sitting in its nest. Yes, I had my new Nikon Coolpix P900 so I could zoom in tight.

We periodically have Bald Eaglees nesting in our woods, but the nest are usually so high up, you can barely see them even with a 600mm lens. Great shot!

My lens goes to 2,000 mm. Plus since this was on a telephone pole it wasn’t has high as it could have been.

Hmmm, are you sure it’s a bald eagle as it looks like an osprey to me. It has the markings of one. Course could be my old eyes too. lol

Jackie, thanks for correcting me. You are spot on. I knew the white head is an eagle …. but it seemed small to me. I thought maybe a youngster or female. Now I know why it didn’t quite look right to me. Thanks.

Nice shot of the Osprey and nest. Did the bird fly down at you and try to distract you? While kayaking in RI an Osprey was screaming and flying around in the sky above, apparently trying to get us away from the tree. The tree was home to a huge nest. I took some shots but nothing that compares to yours with such detail.

I stayed in the car to take the photos. I didn’t want to scare it. That is why the angle is slightly off.
