Share Your World – 2016 Week 44

fcb9183ca124dbf18b81b9245d732e31What was your favorite subject in school?

If you could have a servant come to your house every day for two hours, what would you have them do?

Where did you live when you were in the third grade of school?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

In your opinon, list some places that are great for shopping?

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I sincerely hope you enjoy my questions for this week and find the questions interesting enough to play along.   If you ever want me to ask anything specific, please feel free to contact me.  You don’t think a lot about these questions, unless of course it is FUN for you.  Simply dream and just let loose, or you let your alter ego answer if you want.   Have a fabulous week everyone!!

Even though I oftentimes will add photos to my answers, it is not a requirement to participate in Share your World.

Here is the basic format.  I will ask you:

  • To answer three random questions each week.
  • Respond to a fourth item (I will randomly chose from this list)
    • Making a List out of a topic
    • Completing the sentence I start
    • Answering a Would you Rather question
  • Bonus Question is always the same  “What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?”  Because we all need to be reminded that there are many things in our lives to be grateful about.

If you adore challenges as much as I do, please check out WordPress’s Blog Event Listing for other challenges.

I will post four different questions each week for you to answer.  There are two ways which you can participate.

  1. Create a SYW  post.  Then post the link to your blog in my comment box or leave your answers in the comments box of my blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Share Your World” or “SYW” tag.
  3. Remember to Follow My Blog to get your weekly reminders.

I usually will respond to your entry on your blog, rather than on my page.

HERE ARE MY ANSWERS

What was your favorite subject in school?  When I was in elementary school probably reading, English and spelling.  As I got older in Jr High and High School, math was my favorite subject.  I also really liked typing and secretarial courses.

  • personal chef
  • lawn maintenance person,
  • housekeeper
  • art teacher/mentor therapist to keep explore more creativity
  • qigong session

Where did you live when you were in the third grade of school?  Is it the same place or town you live now?  That was the year I went to three different schools.  I started out in Tofte, Minnesota where my family lived in a Forest Service Ranger Station.  Then my mom, sister and I moved to River Grove Village (Chicago suburb), Illinois and lived with my father’s parents.  My sister and I were enrolled in school there for about six weeks.  Then we moved to Oxnard, California.  I lived there until the day after I turned 21.

In your opinon, list some places that are great for shopping?

  • Amazon.com
  • Any good camera store
  • Thirftway Market for groceries in Canby, Oregon
  • Ashley Shoes in Oregon City, Oregon
  • Michael for arts and crafts

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  Last week was just a fun week.  I am exhausted though, but oh so happy.  I’m learning new things, especially with my camera.  Hopefully, you see some of my experiments along the way.  If I pick up any solid tips, I’ll pass them on to you.  Still dreaming about the next five to ten years and coming up with plans.  In general staying busy.  This week.  Tomorrow I have a qigong session and we’ll see what delights will pop up the rest of the week.

    1. Qigong is a Chinese exercise that is older than Tai Chi. Master Healers and Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine use Qigong by working with people’s body’s energy flow and blockages. This is a real simplified definition. It includes mind, body and spiritual practices. It goes back 5,000 years or more in China.
I was in the 8 and 9 in the third grade.

  2. Favourite subjects were English and History. If a servant came two hours a day I would ask them to teach my husband how to tidy up behind him as I have totally failed. I lived in Pickering, England aged8. We moved when I was 15. I moved back here 14 years ago. Favourite place to shop is York, UK, lots of independent shops and my favourite national stores. I am grateful this week for a chance meeting with my second cousin who came into the library where I volunteer. Looking forward to lots of knitting time this week.

      1. Did you see lots of wildlife there? I bet it was a fun adventure. I lived in the woods as a teenager, but it wasn’t park woods. We had snakes and boys, but not other interesting wildlife. Mama says there are foxes there now. I never saw them when I lived there. 🙂

  3. Fav subjects: Math & English. 2 hours: house cleaning or home repairs. 3rd Grade: Anaheim, Ca. I live about 25 miles away now. Shopping: Amazon.com, Wish.com (for killing time buying cheap crap), etsy.com and Target.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the photo course. I took a photography class waaaay back in college.. in the days of b/w film and developing it ourselves. Then, a few years ago, I took a 1-day DSLR course in Hollywood that turned out to be a good refresher. I just find the DSLR too big & too heavy for most circumstances.

I look forward to seeing your pics!

  4. I think it would be incredibly cool to live in a forest ranger station. Did you meet Yogi Bear? Suz and I would love to live out in the middle of the woods.

    1. It was a hoot living in the ranger station. There were four houses and the forest was my playground. Bear, deer, moose all in my backyard. Animal trails to follow in the winter which scared my parents, and I never got lost. Now take me to a city … even today …. I get lot so easy.

  5. A qigong session and an art teacher both sound interesting to me. I’ve considered qigong and have frequently said I’d like to take a class in water colors. That must have been difficult to move so many times in one year. I took a lot of business classes in high school, and did well in them, but since my Mom was a secretary and bookkeeper, I was encouraged to prepare myself to be able to get a job. Later on I realized that I was going to be able to go to college, and wished I’d taken a lot of other classes that would have prepared me better for college.

    1. My dream was to go to college and was college prep. But circumstances were that I couldn’t go. I did get a scholarship to a local vocational school and got diploma as a legal secretary. Doubt if those schools even exist anymore. 😀

    1. Since I don’t have photos from back then, I don’t talk about it much. I did love living in the ranger station. I had so much fun. Outdoors were safe for me … so that is where most of my memories come from. Since we were way up north fairly close to Canada on Lake Superior, most of my memories are of snow. My dad even made us an ice skating rink in our yard one year. We always made forts and tunnels. Our town dump was our local theater. Out of towers (city slickers as we called them) would come and watch the black bears and even try to feed them. One time this guy had his 2 year old daughter on his shoulders while feeding a bear. My dad hollered at him to get back into his car. I tried to make friends with the deer which didn’t work well after the deer had their babies. Mama would attack me.

  6. We have a lot of similarities in our answers, though you blew me away with the three schools for third grade response. That’s rough! As many times as our navy family had to move, somehow my parents always made it work out for the summer. Enjoyed reading your responses!
