Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Hot and Cold

Miss MacKenzie shaking her head at the cold snow.

This week the topic is Hot and Cold.  I want to see things that are either hot or cold.  This is a little trickier in black and white.  You can have any topic you choose.  Weather can be hot or cold, different seasons can imply hot or cold.   A stop sign in black and white could convey cold.  Smiling people can convert warmth and welcoming.  If all else fails, you an always use sepia tones which are more on the warm side and the blueish-black conveys colder tones.  I just want you to have some fun with your photography.

For a list of upcoming topics, please see the list at below.  Be creative and challenge yourself.  For a great black and white photo look for contrast or highly textured subjects to photograph.

Feel free to dig around in your archives for photos if you don’t have anything new you can photograph.

All mid tone gray gives a warmer feeling. Morning over looking the Columbia Gorge for Vista House, Oregon.

  1. I remember the first time I my cat saw snow. He’d take a step and, shake his paw off, then take another step and shake his paw off.
Would it be okay if I painted you landscape scene? I’m into mountains and water these days.

  2. I had to exercise my grey cells for this one, but found a couple of photos somewhere. I am sure Freddie is glad to see one of his baby photos here. The grey constrasts over the Columbia Gorge are very impressive.

    • It’s hard to image Freddie that young anymore. We got him when he was 12 weeks. The colored version of the Columbia Gorge is impressive to.
