Share Your World – 2016 Week 49

sugarywinzy-spring-cupcakes-with-fat-free-frostingWhat do you value most in a friendship?

Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or the cupcake first?  Do you prefer a specific flavor?

Have you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I sincerely hope you enjoy my questions for this week and find the questions interesting enough to play along.   If you ever want me to ask anything specific, please feel free to contact me.  You don’t think a lot about these questions, unless of course it is FUN for you.  Simply dream and just let loose, or you let your alter ego answer if you want.   Have a fabulous week everyone!!

Even though I oftentimes will add photos to my answers, it is not a requirement to participate in Share your World.

Here is the basic format.  I will ask you:

  • To answer fours questions each week.
  • Bonus Question is always the same “What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?”  Because we all need to be reminded that there are many things in our lives to be grateful about.

If you adore challenges as much as I do, please check out WordPress’s Blog Event Listing for other challenges.

I will post four different questions each week for you to answer.  There are two ways which you can participate.

  1. Create a SYW  post.  Then post the link to your blog in my comment box or leave your answers in the comments box of my blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Share Your World” or “SYW” tag.
  3. Remember to Follow My Blog to get your weekly reminders.

I usually will respond to your entry on your blog, rather than on my page.

HERE ARE MY ANSWERS

What do you value most in a friendship?  Okay I started out with a tough question.  I think I would have to say trust.  I feel if I trust someone, I can be myself with them.  I can let my guard down and be myself.

Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or the cupcake first?  Do you prefer a specific flavor?  The only thing I really like sweet is frosting.  I will always eat my frosting first and the cake is an afterthought.  So needless to say I don’t have a lot of cake or frosting.  My favorite frosting would be cream cheese, and not overly sweet.  Although a good chocolate fudge is great from time to time.

atlantis-submarine-expeditionHave you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to?  No I have not been on a submarine.  And yes I would love to, a passenger one or some time of deep sea exploration.

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?  Not many.  I believe it is a matter of my outlook on life and how react to it.  I’ve have been through a lot of what a lot of people who call hardships and illness, but I’ve never seen that as a hinderance to have satisfied or happy I am.  I think I am one of the happiest, easy going and content people you will find who always like a new adventure of some sort.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  This past week I got my old iMac set up for Chris to use for her photography.  I had not been using my iMac since I got my Notebook a couple years ago.  So we had to update all the software and we loaded Photoshop and Bridge on it.  We have this computer set up on our dining room table, it also makes a great place to view our photos we have taken.    Needless to say we really don’t use our table to eat.  I got a new tripod and it is so light and easy to use.  I had an old (really good one supposedly) tripod, but it was heavy and hard to use, which resulted in my never using it.  I’m hoping to play around with macro shots and maybe some night photography.  Chris also found a really cool software where we can start making our own ebooks.  So there are a lot of exciting things going on.

I have a qigong session this week, so it will be a fairly mild week.  At least as far as I know.

  1. It was interesting to read about your photo experiences .I have a Macbook Pro as well as a Windows computer, but reserve my Windows for the photogrphy. Funny but I am not so comfortable with the Mac and photos. I had Photoshop but it is an older version and no longer use it. I am quite comfortable with Ribbit – cheaper and I have everything I need.Any tips very much welcome.

    1. Never heard of Ribbit. But I’ve been on Mac for so long now, I have no clue what works on Windows anymore. I use Photoshop/Bridge ($9.99 a month US) and it stays up to date. When they get new versions all I have to do is download it.

        1. I know i sometimes question photoshop because I don’t use it. I use the non-destructive editing in Camera Raw that works through Bridge and Photoshop. I rarely go into the full photoshop. Looks like there is a lot to Ribbit.

      1. Cee, is Photoshop only available now through the Adobe Cloud subscription? I got CS4 way back in 2009 and use it on a Windows Vista operating system. I don’t know if it will work on Windows 10, which I am about to switch to, so I’ll probably have to upgrade. I’d rather have a hard copy than a subscription, though I do see the benefits of the subscription plan (staying up-to-date, etc.).

          1. I think the subscriptions are great in that you can always have the latest version at your disposal. But, I can’t be sure from one month to the next that I would be able to afford the subscription (very tight budget) and I would explode if I couldn’t play with my photos. 🙂 I hope that CS4 will work on Windows 10. I guess I’ll be finding out very shortly.

  2. Can’t wait to see some of Chris’s photos. I keep thinking about getting a Mac for photos as I understand they are better. But I’m stuck with Windows. As for tripods- mine was heavy but easy to use. It was stolen out of my car overnight while parked in our driveway. Since then I spent 3 times more for a new tripod that was supposedly lighter. It is not, and not very easy to use, though I did use it for my post this week. Thanks for the fun week after week!

  3. Your submarine picture is the Atlantis which cruises the coral reef off (I think) St. Thomas (we were on a cruise so it’s hard to remember what happened in which port). It’s a cute little sub. Not a good place for claustrophobia.

I just rigged Garry up with one of my Olympus cameras. I felt he needed at least one bigger camera. The Pentax Qs are nice and great street and travel, but they have their limits. He already has Photoshop and Bridge on his laptop, but he’s not interested in the processing. Just the shooting 🙂

    1. Chris normally just tells me what she wants me to fix for her. Although there are times, she likes to do it. It’s nice we have a comfortable place we can both look at our photos and discuss them.

  4. You and Chris will have a great time playing with your new photography set up. I have an old tripod that David used to use occasionally for night photography but I don’t think I’ll use it because my DSLR doesn’t feel very stable on it. I don’t really like taking a tripod out with me as I travel on public transport a lot and it is just something else to carry but it would be good at home for pictures of the stars.

    1. I doubt if mine will get high use, but it will be nice to have one when I want it. We also box a 32 inch (slightly less than a meter) shadow box. We want to just play more with lighting and some macro work.

  5. What kind of tripod did you get and would you recommend it for a 10-year old aspiring photographer? My son really wants a tripod and I totally forgot until you mentioned getting a new one. Thanks for reminding me. Now I know what to get him for Christmas 😉

  6. What do you value most in a friendship?
    Respect, time and sincerity

Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or the cupcake first? Do you prefer a specific flavor?
Cupcakes disgust me – they look so incredibly unhealthy. I might have been spoiled growing up with freshly baked goods in Europe, though…

Have you ever been in a submarine? If you haven’t, would you want to?
Never been in one. Being stuck on a small sailboat for three weeks crossing the Pacific Ocean was claustrophobic enough. 🙂

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

None. If I want my life to be more satisfying, I would (try to) make that happen.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week: being able to go to yoga classes every day of the week; next week: some relaxing time for myself.

Great list of questions, Cee! 🙂
