Share Your World – 2016 Week 51 – Favorite Holiday Edition

from the internet
What is your favorite holiday?

This is a special holiday edition.  The questions have to do with your favorite holiday you celebrate during the year Christmas, birthday, New Year, Hanukkah, Diwali.  Since our international blogs are great for teaching us traditions from around the world, I adore reading about other cultures traditions.  I really encourage everyone to join in the fun.

What is your favorite holiday?

Do you travel for your holiday?

Is it a religious or spiritual holiday?

Is there a gift exchange?

How long does the celebration last?

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I sincerely hope you enjoy my questions for this week and find the questions interesting enough to play along.   If you ever want me to ask anything specific, please feel free to contact me.  You don’t think a lot about these questions, unless of course it is FUN for you.  Simply dream and just let loose, or you let your alter ego answer if you want.   Have a fabulous week everyone!!

Even though I oftentimes will add photos to my answers, it is not a requirement to participate in Share your World.

Here is the basic format.  I will ask you:

  • To answer fours questions each week.
  • Bonus Question is always the same “What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?”  Because we all need to be reminded that there are many things in our lives to be grateful about.

If you adore challenges as much as I do, please check out WordPress’s Blog Event Listing for other challenges.

I will post four different questions each week for you to answer.  There are two ways which you can participate.

  1. Create a SYW  post.  Then post the link to your blog in my comment box or leave your answers in the comments box of my blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Share Your World” or “SYW” tag.
  3. Remember to Follow My Blog to get your weekly reminders.

I usually will respond to your entry on your blog, rather than on my page.

What is your favorite holiday?  Honestly, I really don’t have one.  Since I’ve been so close to death for so many years, we’ve learned to celebrate each day as a holiday.  So for us holidays simply means it’s a day off work for Chris and enjoy a day together.   So we basically celebrate any official bank holiday, which is a day where most people get the day off of work in the US.

What types of food is associated with your holiday?  We eat pizza.  It started when we had a portable pizza oven and we would make our own.  Well the pizza oven is long gone and now it is usually frozen pizza, but it is our tradition.

Do you travel for your holiday?  We learned years ago when we were camping to stay away from campgrounds and freeways on holiday weekends.  Too much traffic and congestion on the roads and campgrounds.  So we usually stay home and plan a day of fun indoors.

Is it a religious or spiritual holiday?  Not applicable in my case.

Is there a gift exchange?  Rarely. We tend to get each other little gifts when ever we feel like it.  Birthdays even in our house is just another day.

How long does the celebration last?  Regarding a specific holiday.  Usually just the one day where we have our pizza and Chris is off from work.

    1. You’re the first person I’ve seen who actually celebrates Kwanzaa… YAY!! (I think that’s doubly weird since I’m in Long Beach and some CSULB professor is frequently credited with starting it – though that’s also in debate)

  1. Love Cee’s words….
It’ s holiday whenever we stay together , off work… Etc.

I tend to not celebrate festivities going around , but love relaxing , far from traffic and crowds…
(Then , I’d love to travel and see new places ,but my health is not so perfect nowadays….)
    Hugs!

  2. We like to celebrate those “us” times. Birthdays, anniversaries. When we had a child in the house, Christmas as a big deal and I still like the few times when we are all together. They are rare enough at this time in our lives. Good questions!!

  3. I love the pizza idea………….sounds great, camping and holidaying during the peak times……….horrible you are so right, that why we go just BEFORE Xmas. I agree with your…everyday above ground is a holiday, shame we have to almost die to really appreciate it. I sometimes find myself taking things for granted and inwardly yell at myself. 🙂 I hope you and Chris have a lovely day and a lovely pizza together!
