Here is my entry for this week’s Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge with the topic of Against the Odds. ENJOY.
In the photo above, if you look up at the top center, you will notice a small glider. People buy them from the store on site at the Astoria Column to throw down to the ground from the top. Photo to the right is a black and white version of the tower.
The left photo below is of the rainbow I captured yesterday. I took these photos 2 seconds apart. There is no reason for the rainbow to exist, but it does. There has been no editing on either photo, they are straight from my camera. I have no idea how that rainbow appeared. I was sure delighted by it though.
Photographed with my
- Sony a7II mirrorless full frame camera
- Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS lens
- f/20.0, 1/8000, exp -0.7, ISO 2500

That was a fun day when we went up to the column. Thanks Marilyn.

Love the glider. The rainbow is formed by ice crystals or water droplets in the atmosphere. That would explain the how. But why, as there doesn’t seem to be much sun?

It had nothing to do with the sun. It was just a freak of a photo, but a wonderful freak. 😀

I caught a partial bit of rainbow once in South Dakota, Cee. Definitely not the usual.
