This week the topic is Letters I or J. This week I’m starting an alphabet series. I’m doing two letters each week. So you can choose just one of the letters or use both letters. You can be creative with this topic. I am eager to see what everyone comes up with regarding this topic. I just want you to have some fun with your photography.
Feel free to dig around in your archives for photos if you don’t have anything new you can photograph.
Upcoming Topics
For a list of upcoming topics, please see the list below. Be creative and challenge yourself. For a great black and white photo look for contrast or highly textured subjects to photograph.
- Letters K or L
- Letters M or N
- Letters O or P
- Letters Q or R
- Letters S or T
- Letters U or V
This challenge accepts the following types of photography:
- Black and white photography
- Sepia tones (browns)
- Selective color with the majority of the photo being in black and white
- Desaturated – very little color tone left in your photo
I hope you have FUN a lot of fun with this challenge.

Not so easy to find this time, although if only I had thought of insect – I have them everywhere. I only found a small icicle. Naturally American icicles are bigger and grander – great photo.

You think “we” are that competitive. LOL Personally I’ll take your icicle over insects every day. I hate them and hate looking at photos of them.

Hi Cee. Can’t think of any J’s except for selfies so I’m sticking to “I.” https://judydykstrabrown.com/2017/03/30/insects-and-iguanas-cees-b-and-w-challenge-the-letter-i/

You could have taken any photo of anything you own and just call it Judy’s …….. 😀

I knew you’d pick an iris! 🙂 The beard often looks like a caterpillar crawling out of the “chute” – in this black and white version even more so. And the clouds above the jet look very impressive, I like the contrast of the smooth metallic jet and the soft, smudged look of the clouds.

Okay, I do have to admit the iris was an obvious choice for me. Glad you like the jet photo you made some good points about the contrast in textures. 😀

Interesting collection of pictures, Cee. How eclectic the collection becomes when we go by letters, rather than a particular theme. The Iris is beautiful. It reminded me of the some popular floral pictures of R. Mapplethorpe who I read about some time back.
