Share Your World – June 19, 2017

People in Portland and surrounding areas have chickens. This photo was taken in the front yard of a house in Canby, Oregon.

What is something that people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?

What quirky things do people do where you are from?

What are some things you wish you could unlearn?

Who is someone that you miss having in your life?

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Even though I oftentimes will add photos to my answers, it is not a requirement to participate in Share your World.

If you adore challenges as much as I do, please check out WordPress’s Blog Event Listing for other challenges.

I will post four different questions each week for you to answer.  There are two ways which you can participate.

  1. Create a SYW  post.  Then post the link to your blog in my comment box or leave your answers in the comments box of my blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Share Your World” or “SYW” tag.
  3. Remember to Follow My Blog to get your weekly reminders.

I usually will respond to your entry on your blog, rather than on my page.

HERE ARE MY ANSWERS

What is something that people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?  Facebook and Twitter.  I do have a Facebook page, but mostly my blogs go in it.

What quirky things do people do where you are from?  Portland Oregon has a saying “keep Portland weird”.  One of the oddities of Portland is that a lot of people own their own chickens.  Even though I only live in 45 minutes away, Canby residents do own people do own a lot of chickens.  You see them wandering around in yards a lot.  You will also see “eggs for sale” as well.  Canby does have some wild turkeys that roam the town.

What are some things you wish you could unlearn?  I would like to unlearn how one of my teachers taught me to write.  He wanted only the facts with no fluff.  Before his class (which was in high school), I actually wanted to write and wrote all the time.  Now my writing is drab without any fluff.  I feel like it makes me come off as not caring or more mean.

Who is someone that you miss having in your life?  I wish my sister and her family lived closer to me.  I would love to have them be a part of my daily life.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  I’m still having fun with my fitbit.  I have worn myself out a little bit, but still doing well with it.  There isn’t much else going on right now.

Qi (energy) hugs

  1. My wife has become obsessed with Facebook, but that is mainly because her family is spread out over the U.S. I love “Keep Portland Weird”. I’ve got to get up there one day.

      1. Cee, your beautiful flower gardens on the Internet brighten my days! I’m always glad to “see” you. Thanks for your encouraging words.

  2. I love chickens! They are so cute, especially the babies. We used to have a white one for a neighbor, many years ago. I don’t know if its owners ate it or if the cats did or whatever happened to it. One day it was there and the next it was gone.
I’m sorry that your teacher stifled your creativity, Cee. That stinks!
Here’s my post for this week: Share Your World.
    Have a blessed day.

  3. Ugh on the writing! I don’t care for teachers that suppress all the fluff out of students…there’s a difference between being interestingly descriptive and overly fluffed. Sounds like that “throwing the baby out with the bathwater” expression to me…
    Great questions this week!

  4. Isn’t it crazy how much influence a teacher can have on your life even years after? You would think that you can unlearn some things but you simply can’t that easily…
