The only supermoon of 2017 takes place Dececember 3. According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, supermoons appear up to 14 percent larger, and up to 30 percent brighter, than regular full moons. The Full Cold Supermoon will be closest to Earth in the early morning hours of December 4. However, that’s not necessarily the best time to see it. National Geographic reported that the best time to view this bright beauty is right after sunset on December 3 when the Full Cold Moon rises.

I’m glad you got to see it, and thanks for the photo. We had cloud cover, and I didn’t have my camera with me anyway. It truly was beautiful. And the night before, although it technically was not a full moon, it was huge and brilliant!

I did peek out and see it last night, big and bright, but did not stay long. It was way too cold.

It was 33 when I went to sleep around 10 last night. I know you get much colder than I do, but for us that was cold.

I saw the moon last night (in our part of the world) and wondered if it was my imagination that the moon appeared bigger than usual! Good to know it wasn’t my mind playing tricks on me!

So I took the camera out and it was a solid gray sky. Not even a little break in the clouds. Maybe tomorrow.
