It’s always slightly alarming to see people standing in the tulips. I have to remind myself there are invisible paths between the layers. This is a visual version of ‘All Things Bright And Beautiful’.

It can be very tempting to put a toe where you’re not really allowed. I once was reproved for ‘walking in a border’ when I was on a path that had already been trodden solid by some contractors. I suppose my cautious footsteps were judged to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. It was such a delight at a garden recently where the gardener knew I was taking pictures and said ‘Just put your foot in – I tread in them all the time’.
