Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Unlikely

Here is my entry for WordPress Daily Post Weekly Challenge with the topic of Unlikely.

We cut off the top of our Princess Tree so it would get more branching off from the top of the tree.  This past year, we just left the old top of the tree sit on the ground over the year.   The year before, we cut it up and got rid of it.  Our tree is growing new leaves and branches as planned.

Notice that the trunk of this small tree has a hollow core.  This the the part of the tree we cut off last year.

Low and behold what we discovered when we went to through out the old cut off stem, it is actually growing new leaves.

We have decided to leave it in our side yard, where there are no trees and see if it will somehow root itself and start to grow a new one.  It is UNLIKELY but I would never have guessed new leaves would be forming on the old part that was totally severed from the roots.
