Share Your World – August 13, 2018

A class you wish you would have taken?

Are you scared of heights?

Are you a good cook? If so, do you consider yourself a chef?

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Even though I oftentimes will add photos to my answers, it is not a requirement to participate in Share your World.

I will post four different questions each week for you to answer.  There are two ways which you can participate.

  1. Create a SYW  post.  Then post the link to your blog in my comment box or leave your answers in the comments box of my blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Share Your World” or “SYW” tag.
  3. Remember to Follow My Blog to get your weekly reminders.

I usually will respond to your entry on your blog, rather than on my page.

For the Love of Challenges

I’ve put together a list of challenges and their hosts.  So if you know a challenge host, please direct them to my blog.  Feel free to contact me anytime.  I hope everyone will be able to use my lists.

HERE ARE MY ANSWERS

A class you wish you would have taken?  There are many classes I wish I had that were better.  But the one type of class I never took was music.   I had a chord organ at home and wished I knew how to play an instrument or anything that taught me music theory or piano.

Are you scared of heights?  No for the most part.  Now I am not what I would call stupid or daring, but to look down off a cliff or something, that never scares me.  In fact I love looking down when I know I’m safe.  So an elevator ride or standing on a stable platform, I’m all in.

Are you a good cook? If so, do you consider yourself a chef?  If anyone reads my blog, it is obvious that I am not a cook.  I kind of joke that I should be on America’s Worst Cooks.  Actually I’m not that bad, but for everyday cooking, count me out.  Once upon a time I was a wonderful bread baker.  I do also know how to make some wonderful enchiladas.  I make some great pancakes and waffles too.

The thought of getting a pug again delights me to no end.  We will get a pug regardless, but hopefully this week we will get an 8 month old puppy named Lola.  So we’ve been playing Barry Manilow’s Copacabana song.

I’m also getting a new Yamaha Keyboard so I can re-learn how to play it and learn more music theory.  It’s been a dream of mine for years.  Chris and I also got some drums awhile back and we are learning how to run a drumming circle.  That is something we are both interested in doing.  I’ve had my Djembe drum for years, see photo.

  1. I recently began playing piano again. It’s great fun. Hope you enjoy it. I thought about taking a Djembe drum class. Is it as fun as it looks? Does it hurt your hands at all?

  2. I also began playing piano again, although I haven’t played for several months. But I was once a music major (it didn’t last!) and I love music of all kinds.

Your answers are wonderful – now I know you better! 🙂

  3. I used to go to a drum circle in Virginia Beach. It was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t. It outgrew itself over the year I went there (from about ten of us to nearly 60 people one night — with kids and animals in tow) and the people who ran it were overwhelmed. It became a logistics and insurance nightmare for them. I’m not sure how they handled it because I stopped going — too many people for me. A cautionary tale I guess. Still, fond memories of the early days. Good luck with yours. I mean that. Drum circles are awesome.

  4. I tried to take up piano again, but it hurt too much. But I’m learning to play the ukulele, which is fun and I barely have time enough for that, so I guess it will have to do.

    Congratulations on your new doggy!!

  5. And now I’m singing Lola…
Our son developed a fear of heights, the kind that *does* make looking down off a mountain terrifying. I constantly have to remind myself that yes, it really does freak him out because it’s one of those “I just don’t get it” things. Poor kid.

  6. That’s awesome that you’re gettng a new Yamaha keyboard. I got a keyboard from my grandma almsot 20 years ago and it still works, but I gave it away some years back. So sad, as now I’d like to relearn to play it.

Oh an enchiladas are so totally yumy!

    1. This puppy is coming from an reputable breeder and this puppy was the owner’s sisters, but her sister died. That is why she is 8 months old. So she should be well trained and has been loved dearly.
