Kammie’s Oddball Challenge – Tulip Field Update

Here is my entry for Kammie’s Oddball Challenge.  Yesterday I went to see how the Wooden Shoe Tulips fields were coming along especially since we’ve had some cold weather.

There are some tulips in bloom.  The shorter ones and earlier blooming ones, but as you can tell they have a few more weeks before the fields are in full color.

This building facade is part of the decorations for their festival.

This looks like a new event this for year, a zipline.

I’m putting together a list of challenges and their hosts.  So if you know a challenge host, please direct them to my blog.  Feel free to contact me anytime.  I hope everyone will be able to use my lists.

  1. That zip line looks in the photo like it crashes right into the facade, but I may just be watching too many episodes of Dead Like Me where almost everyone passes by means of odd Rube-Goldberg-esque contrivances. It reminds me of a place I did tarot readings for a couple of weekends before halloween a few years back, at an old Catskills Irish-heritage ‘resort’ that had lots of decayed structures from the 50s and a few small animals, and they made their own rides. THEY MADE THEIR OWN FAIR-TYPE RIDES out of giant barrels and pulleys and lumber, completely illegally, right as I watched, and it was so dicey-feeling that I expected it to explode or fall down. The worst that happened was that someone spooky in the ‘haunted house’ jumped out at someone who promptly punched him, but that was small compared to the risks they took.

It’d be lovely to watch the progress of the tulips.
