Marsha Ingrao from Always Write blog and I are co-hosting a new challenge that has started today. I think we bring together two very different aspects of seeing the world. Marsha loves to tell stories about her photos. I love to let my photo tell the story. We will take turns every other week exploring art in public places.
The challenge is called Photographing Public Art Challenge (PPAC). Marsha hosts this first week. Please see her post to check out our first challenge. I will be hosting next Friday, June 25. This will be a weekly challenge.
What PPAC is all about.
Public art is which encompasses any form of art you see in a public place, large or small, statues, murals, graffiti, gardens, Christmas lights, even buildings or bridges. The art should be visible from streets, sidewalks or outdoor public places.
- Seasonal Displays
- Graffiti
- Statues and Sculptures
- Collections
- Store Windows
- Murals
- Transportation
- Car Shows
- Artistic Construction (Bridge, benches and buildings)
- Wall Art
I’ve gathered a list of challenges and their hosts. So if you know a challenge host, please direct them to my blog. Feel free to contact me anytime. I hope everyone will be able to use my lists.

This is an interesting idea. Like Marsha said, I might just re-use a photo posted previously

The only requirement is you have had to take the photo 😀 😀 I don’t care if it is 30 years old either. 😀

This does sound like fun. Like Marilyn I don’t have access to a lot of public art but i do have a big archive and you know how much I love to photograph this kind of thing when I get the opportunity so I will certainly try to join in sometimes.

Feel free to use your archives. I know I will be using mine 😀 😀

I love the idea, but truly, this kind of challenge has no home out here in the country. We don’t have public art displays except for ONE wall across from the Mumford dam. That’s it. And since there is only one main street and one primary cross street, there’s nowhere else to look. When the subject matter is something I can work with, I’ll be delighted to participate. Until then, I’ll have to be a lurker.

I know you live in a very rural area. Lurk all you want and play when you can 😀

A friend of mine just let me know about an interesting art event in the town where she works … creative dog sculptures on display everywhere. If I can get there, I might blog about that.

Oh Susan that would be so cool to see all the dog sculptures. I hope you have a lot of fun capturing them when you get a chance 😀

Marsha came up with the idea. She had been working on the topic for a few weeks. She wanted a co host and I thought it would be a terrific and flexible challenge. So I wanted to play along with her. 😀
