WQWWC #30 Vacation

Here is my entry for Marsha’s WQWWC (Writer’s Quotes Wednesday) #30.

Chris and I don’t take what most people consider a vacation. We have always adored our home, no matter where we lived. If we are gone more than two nights, we start missing our home and our 4 legged kids.

In the 30+ years we have been together, we’ve been on two vacations that lasted more than a week.

Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.

A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.Β  Lao Tzu

Back in 1999, we planned our first long vacation. We had just got a new tent trailer and wanted to try it out. We lived in Denver, Colorado, at that time and it was late winter. Since the mountains were to snowed in, we decided to travel the eastern plains and just explore different areas for a week or so. Well, to make a long story short, as we were driving out of our neighborhood we had to stop for a training crossing. We planned on turning left after the train passed to head east to the plains, but instead we turn right and ended up in Arizona. We visited some friends of ours, then headed to the Grand Canyon and got caught in a snowstorm. The roads were impassable for a couple days. Then we decided to head home.

We stopped at Sunset Volcano in Arizona for a day and had a lot o fun. These photos have been scanned in.

And this photo is of the cliff dwellings that are in the same area.

Our other vacation is we took was in 2003. This is me at Lassen Volcano in California. Chris took this photo with our first digital camera. Memory sticks were expensive back then and we took all of our photos on low resolution. We learned that was a big mistake.

When we get out of a couple of hours or even a weekend, we always come back feeling refreshed and eager for more. – Cee Neuner

We spent three hours watch the kite flyers put up each of these kites. It was so delightful to watch them and see the magic appear in the cloudy skies. Photo taken in 2021.

I’ve gathered a list of challenges and their hosts.  So if you know a challenge host, please direct them to my blog.  Feel free to contact me anytime.  I hope everyone will be able to use my lists.

  2. Those kites are wonderful, Cee. I enjoyed reading your story but I’m a traveler at heart even though I always enjoy coming home. It’s a joy to travel (at least usually) and a blessing to have a place to return to that I love. πŸ™‚

    • I’m so glad you like to travel. I love to see new places. I need a teleporter. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I would travel if we had an RV and could it full time. πŸ˜€

  3. This post really makes me think, Cee. I have thousands of photos from trips and excursions, and general travel that are languishing on their respective slides…or CDs, or photos in albums and boxes. Sometimes I think about them, and ponder what will become of them. It is so tempting to write about it…maybe I will. Thanks for the inspiration. πŸ™‚

  4. Love the quotes you chose and your photos. Gorgeous. I would love to vacation in Colorado, and Utah is on my list of places to go..hopefully in the next few years. We try to do one long vacation a year. Then a few shorter ones.
