FOTD – December 21 – An almost painted poinsettia

Welcome to my Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD).  During the winter months, please feel free to use your archives and find some old favorite photos.

Please feel free to post every day or when you you feel like it.  Don’t forget that my FOTD challenge accepts gardens, leaves and berries as well as flowers.

This poinsettia is a pale cream colored. You can kind of see how they paint them. I know this isn’t the prettiest photo, but it tells a story. I have no clue how they paint them. But the colors can be really cool.

I’ve gathered a list of challenges and their hosts.  So if you know a challenge host, please direct them to my blog.  Feel free to contact me anytime.  I hope everyone will be able to use my lists.

  1. I think they use an airbrush with a very light spray. They also dye them by putting vegetable dye in with their roots. They do that a lot with orchids so you get brilliant colors — but when you regrow the orchids, it goes back to its original color, usually white with a color center.

    • Air brushing makes sense since they talk about painting. I know you can change colors of some flowers by adding color to soil or water. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks Marilyn.
