FOTD – May 7 – Iris Bud

Welcome to my Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD).  During the winter months, please feel free to use your archives and find some old favorite photos.

Please feel free to post every day or when you you feel like it.  Don’t forget that my FOTD challenge accepts gardens, leaves and berries as well as flowers.

Photo taken in 2021. It’s been raining all day, and this is what my iris buds look like outside, but today they are extremely wet.

I’ve gathered a list of challenges and their hosts.  So if you know a challenge host, please direct them to my blog.  Feel free to contact me anytime.  I hope everyone will be able to use my lists.

  3. It amazes me how fast they grow at this stage; literally inches in hours and how strong the stalk is. It’s also so curious as to what color it will be. I remember learning that tulips can change color depending on their environment. We planted certain colors and after two years, all of sudden our nice neat rows were all kind of messed up! After that, we planted new ones without regard to color. We just mixed the bulbs up and planted them by reaching in the bag and pulling whatever one we grabbed. Made for a much better random field of color.

  10. It just started to drizzle outside. The first rain since it snowed in early April, so it is welcome!

  23. I love the buds. I love watching flowers grow from tiny buds to fully open. It’s cold again, but still everything is growing like crazy. Just the flowering outside will be late. Inside, my garden is blooming so well I can’t take pictures because the flowers are blocking the windows 🌺

    I couldn’t find an FOTD for today so I used yesterday’s post.
