It took me a lot of practice not to be afraid of taking photos of people. Thanks for your wonderful comment 😀

I agree. It’s hard to pull off sometimes, strangely enough with my own family at holiday or other gatherings. More than once I’ve seen someone in profile or whatever but when I go to take the shot, they’ll notice me and pose for the picture. Um, NO. Not what I was looking for!!

Yes, why do people go into ‘pose’ mode? It’s very annoying!

I really don’t like taking photos of people posing – unless they are posing for someone else. 😀 😀

Candid shots are usually the best and most expressive.

I love your candid shots. I really love taking them – but in Europe we have quite restrictive rules about taking photos of people without (written) permission, so publishing them is difficult.

I used to be afraid of that, but since 2001 and with cameras everywhere and phones with cameras, privacy is not longer expected. Plus I would never sell them, especially if faces are involved 😀 😀

The European laws are very restrictive and already the taking them is problematic, publishing even more so even without remuneration.

Too fast clicking “post”. It is a fine line between individual photographs (which is what I want, really) and taking a photo of, let’s say, a statue and some people happen to be in the frame.

A warning should go out, in Portland, that that’s your topic this week.

Oooh, LOVE taking candid photos of people! Thank you for the prompt!
My favorite in your gallery is the woman posing for a picture in front of a tulip bed. I also like the man with the paddle staring pensively off into the distance.

Great topic for this week. I have just the picture for that – one of the few I took this week. I’ll share it later – probably Saturday. 🙂 Have a great week.

There was a little prequal to that post in my secretary picture. But I’m not the one caught unawares in the next one.

Some of the WORST people to take pictures of are other photographers — including me. There’s a reason I’m usually behind the camera and not in front of it!

I hate my photo being taken. I do like taking photos of photographers and I keep only those that I think look good. 😀 😀

We are terrible examples for our subjects, but I’m betting they already know that 🙂

It is a very dangerous job but I try not to think about that.

I am learning to actually take photos of people in a candid situation. Mine aren’t any where as good as yours but I am getting better I hope.
The laws here are complex and I have just been reading through them.
Taking photos of children is an offense (to a degree)
Publication of photos without permission can be an offense. So is posting photos on a blog a publication?
It is a can of worms – public land vs private land, accidental inclusion photographing something else.
I don’t want to think about it. Perhaps I’ll stick to birds, flowers and nature 😂

These are great, Cee. I’m not sure about this one. I don’t often take pictures of people. I might have to dig.
