Gorgeous trees! We have nothing like it here. I’m amazed at how tall they are. 🙂

If people didn’t live here, all this area where I live would be wooded forests. 😀

That Black Walnut is a world-class tree!

I think it came down in our ice storm a few years ago. I’ve not been back to the park since then. They use to advertise that tree, but now they don’t even mention it. 😦

It was very mature. We used to have a beech tree that looked like that. It was the oldest tree that wasn’t an oak in the valley, but one day, they stopped talking about it. Even trees have a life-span, but I am always sad when one of those glorious big old trees finally passes. I hope they at least left the trunk for creatures to nest in, but if it was in a park, I suppose not.
At least you captured it at its peak.

The canopy of this tree must have been 100′ wide 😀

The beech was like that too. It cast a shade larger than our entire backyard. It was such a glorious tree though not as big as your walnut. May 3/4 of it. There was no grass under it because the shade was so deep. I can’t even imagine how many birds were nesting in it.

All lovely of course, but the temperate rainforest one is the winner for me.
