Why is there ‘bark’ on the bottom of the tree, but as it moves up… no bark. We get deer antler rubbings here… but that is not what is pictured???? Loved the picture.

It is a real hard wood so you will see bowls and carvings made out of them.

I don’t know what that happens, but it is like that with all the manzanita trees along here.
