Flower of the Day – July 20, 2018 – Dandelion

Feel free to add your floral photo to the comments. This way we can all enjoy everyone’s flowers.

I’m definitely on a yellow kick right now.  I have to include at least one dandelion in my yellow flower.  I took this photo in early springtime this year.

  1. Dandelions : dent de lion – because the leaves resemble a lion’s tooth. They are ever present in Spring, if only they didn’t have such complicated long roots.

  2. I absolutely LOVE that you posted about Dandelions. They are considered pretty much as noxious weed enemy number one over here. People are only just awakening to the fact that actually they are very useful plants. They provide nectar to bees when not much else is around. The young leaves are edible. The root can be used to make a healthy coffee substitute and when you see the bright yellow flowers in swathes with the sun on them, they look really beautiful.
I don’t think of them as a weed anymore. 🙂
