I decided to play with my F-stop (F/29 and F/32) this morning in my garden. I normally take most of my flowers from F5.4 to F10. Here are some photos.

It depends on the lens. 40 is usually the highest. Most lens go down to 5.4. The macro lenses and expensive lenses can go to down to one.

They are fun to play with. That’s about the only thing, aside from ISO and exposure, I play with. 😀

Did you notice diffraction at very small apertures? The sweet spot on my mirrorless is nowhere near the smallest.

It depends on the lighting more….at least that is what I notice. 😀

I’ve been doing the opposite recently, flowers and other flora wth f/1.1 & f/1.2 portrait lenses.

I was always after an image suitable for a gardening or botanical publications rather than the impressionistic image.

Unless it is your job….go for what makes you happy. Not what you think others want. 😀 Remember that playing around is always a happy act.

I was shooting for natural history photo agencies so went with what was in demand from editors.
