My camellia trees are starting to get buds. This is an old photo of one of mine.

Cee's Photo Challenges 
If I’m not mistaken, camellias have an incredibly rich scent too. I have never grown them, but I think (correct me if I am wrong) have a wonderful scent and are not merely beautiful to look at. I am still awaiting buds. I was hoping it would be soon. I think I’ll go water my plants and whisper sweet nothings to them.

I had to look up camellias since I don’t know much about them. Their scent is not overwhelming on the whole, but there are a couple varieties people say really give off a nice scent. The one thing I do know is that the entire bloom will fall to the ground when they die off. The don’t drop individual petals. They are used at grave bouquets alot and are planted in cemeteries, because they aren’t as trashy looks with petals falling everywhere.

Lovely! Your camellia prompts me to do two things, visit the Longwood Gardens Conservatory soon, and second, look through my photo cache to find the photographs I have taken of the camellia blooms at Longwood. Good inspiration today Cee. Thanks.

I just had an email that the new orchid space will be opening up on the weekend. I can’t wait to see it…will wait a bit though…the crowds will be large.

This is the place I’ve seen there. I’ve always lived (as an adult) in cooler climates. They are much more popular in the south 😀

Mine are in the shade mostly, but they seem to be early bloomers–early for spring, I think? I am sharing a few interestingly colored ones in my FOTD down below. I love how there’s so many different kinds of camellias.

I love camellias. I grew them in England but they do not do well in the Ontario climate.

Nope. Too cold in winter and maybe too hot in summer for them in Ontario.
