Welcome to Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD). Please use either new or your archived photos for this challenge. Feel free to post every day or when you you feel like it.

Okay, my new friends. I’m posting this for Cee. She wanted to live to see another Spring but didn’t quite make it. She needed another month. This is one of our tulips. The picture isn’t quite as clear as hers would have been but I’m using my iPhone, not her camera. It’s sitting beside her ashes in our living room.
One of the things I’m discovering about being a new widow is that Cee had her own ways of doing things on her computer. We were completely opposite in so many things, which is part of why we worked together for so well for thirty-five years. I am addicted to a mobile electronic life and can’t function without my phone and iPad. I haven’t been on a desktop or a laptop since I retired. Cee hated her phone and only used an iPad to play games, reluctantly. I CAN”T FIND ANYTHING ON THIS LAPTOP!!!! Sorry about yelling but it’s been frustrating getting just this one post done. I could figure out how to get the photo from my phone to this computer but couldn’t find it once it was here. Sigh!
Cee made magic with her photos. Me, I like making magic with words. I would like to post and then tell you a story about when she took the picture and what it reminds me of about her. Maybe tell you some funny stories about your friend.
Hugs to all!
Chris, in Cee’s memory

Hi Chris
I have not visited my blog for years, but I always like to see what Cee was up to. My condolences to you, your family and friends. Cee was a powerful advocate for photography. Her enthusiasm was enormous.

I know how much Cee loved her tulips and it is great that you have shared this with us. Personally I am a laptop person, although I use Jetpak on my phone to view posts and make comments, I do not use it to create posts, and I transfer phone photos to my laptop to work on using a USB cable connector. As others have said, photos, words, whatever you feel like, whenever you feel like it. Take care Chris xx

Chris, I hope you keep this challenge going in whatever form works for you. Laptop, desktop, or phone doesn’t make a difference to us. Use whatever is most comfortable for you. One of Cee’s pieces of advice that I’ll treasure is to have fun through blogging.

My hope (and expectation) is that continuing to honor Cee’s incredible legacy proves to be cathartic for you Chris. Like so many others I’d encourage you to use your phone if that’s where you’re most comfortable. Many of us do as it’s become so much easier and more convenient. Like Cee I personally prefer the laptop but often use the phone when I travel, and definitely use it for photography more often than my camera. Special thanks for honoring her memory by keeping her blog going.

Hi Chris I would love to hear the stories behind Cee’s photos. I sympathise with your struggles with technology. Like Cee I prefer to edit photos on my desktop computer or laptop. I have only recently started taking more photos on my phone and like you I find it hard to transfer them. I have started saving my phone photos to Google for easy downloading but the extra step annoys me.
I always think of Cee at tulip time because we have a tulip farm near us too. I used to tell her I thought Oregon and Tasmania were similar climates. Just the other way around.

Chris, your post is so touching. She always said you loved to write, and she loved to take photographs and hated to write. It was like torture to her, I think. I can’t imagine how much you are missing her, and to take the time to write the post and take a picture of your flowers is above and beyond. We all thank you. As Jo says, it brings us closer to Cee.
I know she would be taking pictures of her tulips if she were here. I think your iPhone did a great job, by the way. I hardly use anything else in spite of all she taught me about the Sony camera. I will echo Terri’s words that your blogging community will help you just as Cee helped us. I know a ton about Lightroom because of Cee! And if you’d rather not be burdened with photography processing knowledge – just use your iPhone and you’re great. It’s supposed to be fun and cathartic.
With tears and hugs, Marsha

Hi Chris, I want to share Mr. Philo’s response to my comment on his beautiful “One last post” if you haven’t seen it.

Thank you so much, Amy. Your words beautifully echo the spirit of Cee—gentle, inspiring, and deeply rooted in kindness. She truly brought color and calm to our blog world. Her legacy isn’t just remembered… it quietly blossoms every time we pause to notice beauty, just like she did. 🌼

I did see his comments, Amy, but thanks for pointing them out to me. I’m a little overwhelmed, as you might suspect.
And thank you for all your loving thoughts about Cee and support of me. Hugs!

Hi, so sorry for your loss Chris. Second if you do everything on the phone, load the Jetpack to your phone and you can load your photos directly from your camera to WP. I sometimes do that, and it works fine for me. Take care. ❤ Ritva

Beautiful capture! I´m also using my computer for most of the wp-work, but I agree with Terri in downloading the jetpackapp – it does make it easier to handle things on the phone.

I am like Cee. I use a computer for everything, a big arse monitor for my photos is a blessing.
So hopeless with my phone especially trying to do links plus my camera skills on the phone leave a lot to be desired 🙄
Thanks for persevering with a FOTD post. A lot of people are ready to help if needed ❤️

I do a lot on the Jetpack app. I use my laptop for a portion of my posting, but the majority is through my iPhone.

It’s a great shot and the iPhone has a good camera. You’re a great story teller, so I’m looking forward to hearing them. You’ve had some good suggestions so far for using your phone to blog. One day at a time, right?

This is a lovely post Chris. It’s such a cheery informal photo, and accompanied by its ‘backstory’ – technology eh? – it makes a perfect combination. I’m with Jo, in enjoying the story every bit as much as the images in the posts I like best. I don’t know how often you’ll want to post, but Cee’s loyal followers will welcome every appearance you feel able to make. Thank you!

Hi Chris! Well done on navigating your FOTD post! What a beautiful tulip and your composition of the image is perfect! I love my tech, too, and use a PC, laptop, tablet, and phone. But I still like to use the desktop or laptop to manage images and write posts. The rest I do on my phone.
Download the Jetpack App on your phone and you’ll be able to read and reply to comments much easier! I’m working on a garden post for Sunday and will link back to this one. Your blogger friends are always available to assist you if you need anything related to blogging. Don’t hesitate to ask, there are major learning curves with WordPress. 😉

We’re no two alike. I love the idea of a photo and a story, Chris. I like the story telling aspect as much if not more than the photos on my own blog. But I’m no great shakes as a photographer and I’m not great with technology. I’m bashing this out on my laptop, as ever. Thanks so much for persevering. I look forward to the next offering. It’s bound to get easier and it brings us all closer to Cee xx
