This is called a straw burst flower. The petals actually feel like straw. You would never know it by looking at it though.
This is our third week of a new series that I am calling a Habits and the 5 Senses.
This week’s topic is the colors of the sense of touching or feeling. This week you can post anything that stimulates or delights you sense of touch. It can be thorns on a rose, a soft baby’s face or tree bark. Be creative and have fun. Feel free to dig around in your archives for photos if you don’t have anything new you can photograph. Most of all I hope you have fun.

Great Photos Cee! I like the contrast between the three chairs. One looks smooth as the other two look coarse and rugged. Wonderful!

I don’t know how I missed your picture of the rose and thorns before, but it is fabulous! Did you add it later? I remembered the one of the bark being the featured photo and thinking it was the epitomy of a photo for the sense of touch. But the rose. Ouch! It kind of worries me. Every time I look for the salad dressing lately, I look for about 5 minutes and eventually find it right in front of my eyes in the door where I put it so I wouldn’t have to search for it the next time–that spot I’ve looked at a dozen times in the past five minutes. It’s like things become invisible. They are not lost, like the keys or my glasses. They are right in plain sight. Just invisible!!

If you leave your glasses on a table, when you look for them, you just see the table. Your mind sees what the table looks like, not necessarily what is on the table.

Especially my new rimless glasses. I love how easily they rest on my nose and face–weightless. Problem is they are also invisible and the fact that they are weightless often causes me to look for them when I’m actually wearing them! Ah the comedies of our later years.
