Welcome to my Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD). Please use your archived photos or find some old favorite photos if you like. Feel free to post every day or when you you feel like it.

Don’t forget that my FOTD challenge accepts gardens, leaves and berries as well as flowers. To see entire list of accepted flowers, click here. Please do not submit photos of trees that don’t show colorful blooms or autumn colors. Leaf close ups are always welcome.

What beautiful colours! They make me think ‘strawberries and cream’.

A friend and I got to talking about Dahlias today and why we don’t grow them. Usually, it’s too cold. This year, it was warm enough except for the on day deep freeze that killed everything that had begun to come alive — the middle of February. Even with the weather being overall warmer than it was, it’s still unpredictable. “Tender” bulbs cannot survive even a single night of deep freeze.
I love the patten on those leaves. It looks like a bright spring dress with polka dots. Just lovely.

Dahlias are hard to grow. If our weather doesn’t improve the dahlias will be planted late this year and our blooms season won’t be that good. There is still time though before that happens.

I have no idea what kind of weather we’ll have. It has been pretty strange so far.
