Welcome to my Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD). Please use your archived photos or find some old favorite photos if you like. Feel free to post every day or when you you feel like it.
This is one of my rhododendron bushes in my front yard. Did you notice it is taller than our house. This rhodie bush sits under the canopy of our maple tree. The second photo is a close up view of some of the flowers.

Don’t forget that my FOTD challenge accepts gardens, leaves and berries as well as flowers. To see entire list of accepted flowers, click here. Please do not submit photos of trees that don’t show colorful blooms or autumn colors. Leaf close ups are always welcome.

Amazing Rhododendron! Do you know its name and its age?

I never thought of looking up what kind of Rhododendron it is. It is Catawba Rhododendron. They grow usually to 10′ but have been known to grow 16′ or higher. These are quite common in Oregon. I don’t know how old it is, but it was around 8-9′ when we moved into our ten years ago.

What a lovely view you’d get from inside and such a healthy bush. The multitude of flowers are a good sign that they’re happy.

Chris loves her view (that room is her office). The only problem is her room is always freezing cold until way late in the day when the sun hits her window. I get the morning sun so my office is usually way to hot. 😀 😀

We actually have three of these. There is another rhodie beside the one you see here. I have a smaller rhodie in bac. It is probably only about 8′ tall. 😀

We have a small rhodie in the back garden as well; the buds are starting to show colour, so shouldn’t be too long now 😃

I like that the first photo gives us a sense of the size of the rhododendron. The second photo, though, is my favorite. You give us a full frame of the beauty of that color contrast.
