(By Chris) Quartz asked 40 leaders in art, business, fashion, science and social justice the question: What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? (Really well done with the exception of the giant Rolex Ads in between, but it’s easy to flip past them.)
When you get into the site, scroll up to read the introduction. There are arrows on the upper right to page through the presentation. When you get to a page, scroll up from the bottom to read the content on each page. Some of the stories contain links to see the presents.
Share your best gifts in the comments below. Remember, the gift can be for any occasion, not just Christmas or a birthday. Cee and I celebrate and give gifts according to how we are feeling, not according to the calendar. So share anything you’d like.
Virtual hugs!

Before we were married, my husband gave me a leather pouch necklace he’d made. Inside, attached to the cord of the pouch was a wooden heart with his initials on one side and mine on the other. It was so romantic. I recently found it in a bag of items I wanted to put into a retablo. Perhaps soon I will actually do it. The retablo of his life fell off the wall and I’ve never reassembled it. Same with the one of my dad’s life. Perhaps it was a sign to get on with life, but still, I’d like to repair them!

It’s a great question. I guess it would be the Gucci watch Garry gave me before we were married. It was the first solid clue I got that he was serious about the relationship. It was inscribed. It was, is, special. I still have it, though I no longer wear any watch.

The best gift I received, or could ever have hoped for, are my parents. They are truly amazing.

The best gift I ever received was the entire journal of poems written over a period of ten years by someone really special to me.

Once on the site it is easy to look at. I think my favorite present I ever received was an ocean drum that Chris gave me right after I was out of the hospital in 2001. I really wanted to hear the ocean as it really sounds and living in the desert on the eastern plains of Colorado that just wasn’t possible. If you are not familiar with Remo drums.
