It is apt. I remember, back when I watched tv and commercials, when they really did try to pit toilet paper brand against brand for softness and absorbency and all this other stuff, and how we used to be thrilled by the terrible tp they had on European trains and considered ourselves worldly to have used it–
I used to love a lot about the past, even though it was very imperfect–all the whining I did then was for picky details, like people not having enough integrity or being consumerist, whereas now–we seem to have missed that boat.
