Welcome to my Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD). Please feel free to post every day or when you you feel like it. Don’t forget that my FOTD challenge accepts leaves and berries as well as flowers.
Another bud from my yard. I like you can see the sun on a couple of spider webs.
I would appreciate you continuing to post your entries on my daily post entries. If you need more information here is a link to my FOTD page.
I’ve gathered a list of challenges and their hosts. So if you know a challenge host, please direct them to my blog. Feel free to contact me anytime. I hope everyone will be able to use my lists.

I started out wanting picture of our buds, but most of them were too small except for the few remaining big buds on the Rhodendrons. We had a lot of buds, but now those buds are all flowers. Even our azalea is blooming right now. I need to go out and get some pictures of it. It hadn’t bloomed this much in years.

One of my rhodies is blooming, its been too hot for me to go outside. It will be cooler this week, so hopefully. 😀

Nice bud, Cee. Actually I have some fun peony bud photos languishing in my camera, as I am still agonizing over the malfunctioning of my photo software.

Oh I’m so sorry you have having software issues. That is never fun 😀

My daughter helped me get on the posting trail again! I was having big trouble with OneDrive, and she figured out how to disable it…apparently ya can’t kill it, but it can be unlinked. Maybe it was causing less actual trouble than it was driving me nuts… 🙂

Yet again, you’re well ahead of us. I always think of peonies as being my birthday flower, but no chance this year, I think.

Lovely! Mine are just beginning to appear with the green leaves. No buds yet. But with the warmer weather they will grow fast. 🙂

I love watching peony buds come to flower 🙂, I wonder though, what’s with them and all the ants?
Beautiful shot Cee.

I really don’t get ants on them. Spider webs yes. 😀

My dear late husband, who loved to tease me when I wasn’t paying attention to something he was saying, once told me that the ants’ little feet worked to help the reluctant petals open on the tight peony buds.
He also told me that the purpose of carrot oil was to make it easier for the carrots to be removed from the ground without breaking them. I never did find out if “carrot oil” was a thing…I think it was some kind of stuff farmers would spray on carrot crops.
… and once he tried to convince me that if one eats a great big juicy burger, it only contains the actual weight of the sandwich in calories.

He must have told stories well. Thanks for sharing. 😀

I think of him every time I see peonies, and they all seem to have at least one ant per bud.

LOL! You had a comedian on you hands there I see.

He might have something there on the ants cause I’ve yet to see them in any large numbers once the flower opens.
… and I gotta say, I agree with him on that last one. just showed this to my daughter. she’s living this idea 🙂.
Have a good night.

Maybe when it is peony bud season they send over a detail to march around on the bud so it opens on time? This looks like an especially good year for peonies, I have dozens of buds and they all have at least one ant. Who knew?

LoL! That may very well be! Mine are going crazy as well, love them🙂

A couple of early bloomers are open, but lousy for photography. The bigger blooms are still well….in bud stages. 😀

Well, the open flowers are something to anticipate. 🙂

Actually the red fades away. They are a very light pink with a huge yellow center. The older the bloom gets the pink fades to white.
